Screwtape Still Writes

By

There’s a brilliant little book called The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis—a fictional set of correspondence between a senior demon (Screwtape) and his apprentice (Wormwood). The letters reveal how hell’s kingdom might strategize to tempt, distract, and derail a Christian from a life of faith. It’s uncomfortable, eye-opening, and unsettling… because it hits too close to home.

Lewis never meant it to entertain. He meant it to expose.

In his introduction, Lewis even admitted how draining it was to write from such a dark perspective. He described it as “dry and gritty,” admitting he could never have written a sequel. But oh, how timely it still is.

Because Screwtape still writes.
Not literally—but spiritually.
Every temptation you face.
Every moment you feel dull, discouraged, or distracted.
It all hints at a strategy deeper than you think.

The enemy isn’t always loud.
He’s often subtle.
He won’t always tell you to curse God.
Sometimes, he just wants you to forget Him.

And so, this series begins: Screwtape Still Writes.
Not to glorify darkness.
But to reveal the schemes of the one who “prowls around like a roaring lion” (1 Peter 5:8).
And most of all—to remind us that “we are not unaware of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11).

So, let’s expose the strategy.
One letter at a time.
